Since HPO’s beginning, it has been privately owned and operated by Idaho native and founder John Ballard, with the goal to provide safe and effective “green” alternatives to synthetically based chemical products commonly used in agriculture and associated operations.

Since its inception, HPO has supplied yucca-based organic soil amendments on a wholesale level to grower-producers, vintners, and orchardists throughout the western United States.

NO ONE ELSE in this field has the experience and expertise with yucca products in agriculture!

Matthew Hitchcock brings more than a decade of legal experience to the Hungry Planet Organics team, where he supports strategic growth and operational integrity. As a U.S. Army veteran, Matthew applies his discipline, insight, and problem-solving skills to advance the company’s mission of cultivating a healthier planet. In his legal career, Matthew counsels clients nationwide on complex real estate, risk management, and regulatory compliance matters. A husband and father of two, he is passionate about regenerative solutions to build a cleaner, more resilient future for all.

Cody Reynolds has been in the ag field specializing in seed and fertility for the last 30+ years. He is currently with Northwest Biologic as a Field Representative / Agronomist. Cody holds a BS from the University of Idaho and is a Leadership Idaho Ag graduate while serving on the Advisory Board of the Local FFA chapter.

Toney Williams

Toney Williams, a retired executive from IDACORP Inc., advises on strategic and financial operations.. Mr. William’s astuteness and intelligence gained over years of successful management provides HPO with guidance for sound planning and continued growth.

Robert Hitchcock

Robert E. Hitchcock is a retired pipefitter, welder, and lifelong creator whose visionary designs and entrepreneurial spirit have shaped both industries and ideas. A disabled veteran and early believer in Hungry Planet Organics, Robert—alongside his late wife, Karlin—was among the company’s first investors and has stood beside founder John Ballard as a close friend for over 40 years. A proud grandfather, Robert is deeply committed to the mission of rebuilding the earth through regenerative solutions, ensuring a healthier, more vibrant planet for future generations.
